As part of the lead-up to the European Championship, during the 14th Great Sports Fair held at
Ada Ciganlija under the slogan “The Power That Unites,” water polo attracted great interest
from visitors. Around 40 sports were presented at various stands, and at the Serbian Water
Polo Federation stand, visitors had the chance to meet national team player Vasilije Martinović
and the PR of Federation Dejan Stevović in a lively atmosphere.
Vasilije shared stories about his sports career, his transfer from Crvena zvezda to Novi Beograd,
and club successes. What especially fascinated the visitors – particularly the youngest ones –
was his story about starting swimming at the age of three and later developing a passion for
water polo.
Vasilije expressed his hope to see the Belgrade Arena filled to capacity during the upcoming
Championship and praised the national team led by Uroš Stevanović for its strong character and
team spirit. When asked about the group and competition system, he noted that the opponents
are strong and the format is demanding, saying it will certainly be a challenge. To the question
of who he predicts will win medals in Belgrade, he confidently answered:
“Serbia! And silver and bronze – Spain and Hungary.”
